    Exhausted, but Re-Macified
Oh, my lovely computer came home today. It has a new keyboard. The keys are lovely and textured, and the letters have all their ink on them again. Or still ... since it's new.

Today was the practice MBE a la PMBR.

These are the things I heard today (and read just now looking for more confidence-boosting):
    • PMBR is very, very hard. The hardest practice test out there.
    • The national average of correct answers on PMBR is less than 100.
    • If you want to figure out how you'll do on the real (raw) MBE, add 35 to your PMBR score.
Uh. Okay. Then perhaps, just perhaps, I'll say "I got a 152." That's after I apply the above to my score sheet -- which prior to application of the above left me feeling that I must have been using the a.m. answer sheet on the p.m. answers. Because it can't be 8 days out with me having that much wrong, can it? Because that is a little scary.

I told Beloved: Today was mentally exhausting, but I'm guessing tomorrow and Wednesday will be a mental vacation. I will just be talked at for 2 days. That's how I'm justifying a) my plan to do nothing but 4 essays tonight, and b) the likelihood (a la glass #2 of wine) that I won't even do that.

It looks like I will not be able to see the Harry Potter movie before the exam. If I had been able to go on Friday, it would have been ok, but by the time I'm done with PMBR, it's less than a week until the Real Thing, and I'm not throwing away 3+ hours on a movie. I can't do that.

    This is the new plan:

I leave the Real Thing on Thursday ... at some time on some clock. I take the T to the theater. I buy a ticket for the next show. I shop at REI for shoes and perhaps some last minute tops/pants for the trip until that show starts. I go see the show. (Note: Beloved works until 8 p.m. or so on Thursdays).

During the show - I zone out. I watch the movie. While I'm watching the movie, all the stress and anxiety about MBE questions #108 and 115 (today's stressors - I got both wrong), and about the essay on 93A will evaporate out of my brain. I will leave the movie ready to pack for Europe. To, for the first time since May, Think About Other Things.

Hell, I may even have sex on Thursday night (next Thursday!! Next!!!).

    mmmm, apples.
I had been unsure what to get my parents for a while. I (still) plan to make the girls scrapbooks for our solstice gift this year, and have an idea for Beloved as well, but wasn't sure what to do about my parents. They are the people who not only have everything, but spend quality time thinking of all possible future scenarios of their lives so they can anticipate what they MAY need, and as soon as they think of that thing that they MAY need, if X, Y and Z happens - they BUY it.

I just spent some time going through my year's photo library on my computer, and I threw together a photo book using iPhoto. I can't believe how easy, fun and cool that was. I showed Beloved and the girls, and they were all duly impressed.

This book had 80 pictures in it, and was 35 pages. So the fact that it cost $40 did not seem like too much. We'll get each of my parents some else to open for themselves - I think a bottle of good gin for my dad, and something else (who knows what) for Mom.

I think that I'm in love enough with the book idea that I'm going to make a couple of others. I'll let the girls pick some photos to put one together for their dad (although not EIGHTY photos), and I think I'm going to make one for his grandmother right now. She's getting quite old, and loves the girls so much, and since the divorce, I don't stay in touch so well.

I kind of didn't before the divorce, b/c I find the woman quite creepy, honestly. But I don't have to hug her or kiss her, I just have to send her a book with perhaps 10 photos of the girls in it, and I'll make her happier than she's probably been for a while.

    Holiday spirit and all.

    Decisions, Decisions.
I have been having trouble with my Yahoo mail for some time. It is not my only e-mail - but it's the one that I use for a lot of transactions, and it's the one I have on record for the girls' school stuff, and which I have for a lot of other incidentals. I want to get rid of it now, though.

The question is .... where do I go? I have created another gmail account (using my real name), but I also have a ".mac" account, and I don't know which one I should use.

Any experience on which is more reliable? I do not think I've experienced unreliability with gmail. However, a lot of my problems arise when I am e-mailing with people at their work accounts, and the Yahoo gets grabbed as Spam. I wonder if the same happens with gmail, but perhaps will not with .mac?

Another disadvantage to having 2 gmail accounts is that I cannot be logged into both at the same time. That may, right there, be the decision-maker for me. But i would love to hear if anyone has had problems with either type of account.
