The Invisible Bomb Threat |
Yesterday, as I was walking to the T from work, my path was diverted by approximately 20 emergency vehicles and 30+ fire and policemen. One of the areas adjacent to Boston's Government Center was roped off, and the bomb squad was there. The police officers told us all candidly "It's a bomb threat" as they made us go a different way. I knew without any doubt that nothing was going to happen. There would be no explosion, no boom, no nothing.
But I did think I'd go home and see the story on Boston. com, or on the news, or something.
It's nowhere. There's no story anywhere. Major roads were closed off in downtown Boston, and there's nothing anywhere about it?
I wonder if it's just b/c of our governor's inauguration yesterday - not too far away, but also not close enough to be the target. Either the news people were too busy to be bothered with what the bomb squad was doing, or there was no room for the story anywhere. I just found it weird, b/c it's usually the kind of thing that they want to capitalize on.Labels: boston |
