I had lunch today with a couple of partners at the Summer Firm (i guess I need to come up with a more permanent name!) who are heavily involved with recruiting. They said that EVERY YEAR, someone forgets to take the MPRE. At least in MA, you can't register for the bar without having taken the MPRE.
So they said it's not uncommon to get freaked out phone calls from an incoming associate who was just told that they can't take the bar exam. Usually, it's people from other states or even people who are in school in Canada, but ocassionally, it's someone from around here who waited to take the MPRE until the last test before the bar (the April one), and had some catastrophe - a car accident on the way to the bar, getting food poisoning the night before, and on and on.
I am definitely taking it in November. I am not going to be *that person.* |
