    devestated
i just received news that a dear friend's 8 month old baby was seriously burned over the weekend. they are in the hospital and have sent their older children to family out of state. i am so sad for my friends, for having to go through something so horrific, and sad for the poor little baby, who is having to experience such pain.

this is one of those times when it's hard to be on the other side of the country.

I am so sorry for your friends. How did it happen? Boiling water on the stove? That's my big fear. 8 months. It couldn't have been that. Regardless, love and prayers their way.

OH Christ. I am sorry. The good news is that it will heal and probably leave no scar.

Jonas was a year and a half when we went to a local coffee joint to meet a friend and her one and a half year old. My friend had just put the scalding hot coffee on the table when her daughter pulled the table which in turn threw the coffee and tea all over her. She had sheets of skin hanging off her arms. It was horrific! The ER doctors were great. She was given a pain killer to knock her out and they did their stuff. She had a ton of follow up but in the end didn't need a skin graft. She has ZERO scar. The wound had first, second, and third degree burns.

I hope your friends are better. THey must be stunned. The hardest thing, the biggest fallout was when the mother couldn't forgive herself. It took months and months.
