    sleep overs and sleepiness
the girls each had a sleepover at friends' houses tonight. one of the moms said "you and david are gonna have a nice time!"

instead, we were home by 8, and in our jammies by 8:03.

This detox stuff that my acupuncture doctor has me doing is leaving me a little tired and a little worn.

we went out to dinner at this place that gets great reviews - not only for dinner, but as a "hot spot" at night for the 30-something set. i'm not a "hot spot" person at night. so we went early. i wanted to check the place out, and it's like 2 blocks from our house.

just so happens that TONIGHT there is some kind of engagement party going on at the restaurant. we got there at 5:45, and from the level of enebriation that some were experiencing, i'd guess the party started at oh .... 1 in the afternoon. they sat us at a table near the front, and it just so happens that this large framed photo - which was serving as some sort of card for guests to sign - was perched on the table connected to my booth. so very loud drunk people (at 5:45!!!) were coming over and LAYING on the thing, about 6 inches from me. one guy said, "do you mind if i put my drink here for a minute?" and i gave him a very nasty look. It was our table!! Dinners are $30!!! it wasn't like - McDonald's!!

so, we left. i don't usually do that, but it was pretty extreme, and this place is suppsoed to be great, and since i know that this "party" was a fluke, i'd rather not have that be my first impression. so we went to a more casual pub place across the street and had a couple of beers and some more relaxed food. it was also a hoppin' place with happy dirnking people - but within the realms of normal. there weren't people screaming and belching 6 inches from my face.

and then we came home. and i feel like i could go to bed right now.

I think first I'll go play Typer Shark while this disk (Cowboy Junkies) plays itself through. I'm not sure what Beloved is doing in the other room, but it sounds like he's building a bookshelf or something (or perhaps .... cleaning?)
