    it's a **what** day?
In December, we had a big snow storm. We had near blizzard-like conditions, and also something I'd never experienced before - Thunder during snow. The kids' school did not close, even though it was predicted that the worst of the storm would be happening right at 2:00 - their dismissal time. I was slightly bamboozled by this decision-making process, but my kids had play practice and after school activities on that day, which also were not c anceled, so they did not need to travel during the thick of the storm, so I didn't get too hot and bothered.

today, we had a storm forecast. they knew that there would be a mix of rain and snow, and that some areas would potentially get clobbered, while others got wet. at 5:10 a.m., our school canceled. I got up at 6:30 to find a wet road, and the snow that had accumulated on New Year's Eve mostly melted by the rain. So when I looked at the television and the websites to find that school was, in fact, canceled, i was, again, bamboozled. at that point (6:45 a.m.), the forecast for the Boston area was for only 2-4 inches of snow, depending upon when it turned back to snow from rain.

so we're home. there's no snow. actually, since the girls got out of bed at 7, there's not even rain. there's NOTHING coming out of the sky. the roads are still wet. perhaps we will get flurries by the day's end.

fortunately, my employer for this quarter is highly flexible, and have no problem with me "working at home" today. since i can "work at home" and still get paid, beloved braved the elements to get work. i think he brought his umbrella in his bag. you know, just in case there ARE any elements.
