    back at it
So, today was one week back at school. last week was nice. no real stress, just getting to learn what it is like to walk into new classes without the stress of orientation and moving across the country and being nervous, etc., etc.

This week ... not so nice. a paper due and a presentation to give on friday, resumes due out on wednesday, and of course, 400 pages to read in between.

Today was terrible. Started out with a supposedly sealed coffee mug sloshing all the coffee out in my bag, rimming 2 of my $100 textbooks with coffee. ugh. the bottoms of the pages are all swollen-like, and they stink. and they will. for the entire semester.

Then I had to spend some time going through employer notebooks in our co-op office, trying to figure out where I want to work this summer. Honestly, I want $$. it's been very hard not making any money this year, and i'm very broke. perhaps, just perhaps, if I didn't have 2 kids, and $1000/mo in childcare, and expensive rent in a great public school district for the girly-q's, things wouldn't be so tight, and i would be able to say i made it through an entire year of law school maintaining my public interest ideals. instead, i want a paying job. but i don't think i'm going to get it. b/c of our co op system being what it is (we do 4 co-ops over 3 years, rather than just the 2 summers), it seems as though it's "expected" that your first co-op is spent being babied by a judge or something, for free, and the firms don't really want us until after we've done that.

so, while it's only monday of the second week, i feel hopelessly behind again. my summary judgment brief doesn't even have a statement of facts, my presentation is nowhere near thought about, and my reading ... well, at least that's in decent shape. But instead of keeping up with my schedule, i need to spend my morning tomorrow at Kinkos getting copies made of resumes and memos and course evaluations.
