well, i guess i take it back
my brother's wife, who I am going to boringly refer to as SIL (sister-in-law) is no longer pregnant. apparently, a doctor's appointment with some blood tests alerted them to the fact that hormone levels were not where they should be, and they sort of knew what was to come at that point. Her cramping started the next day, and she ended up in a lot of pain, and needing to be admitted to the hospital. I thought that such an early miscarriage would be much less traumatic on a body ... she was only 5 weeks along. I don't have the full story.

Unfortunately, my parents had left to visit my sister in CA just that morning, and were nto there to support my brother while he was in the waiting room very freaked out by it all. Apparently, SIL's pain was enough that she was crying out a good bit, and he was at a loss of what to do. Her parents, who they lived with for over a year until their house was done being built, just moved to pretty much the furthest possible point while still having a U.S. zip code. So the two of them, very used to being surrounded by parents and support, were very alone during this difficult experience.

Perhaps that was good, in its own way. Rumor has it that they are now doing much better, and looking forward to "trying again" in a few months.
